The red sox just picked up Paul Byrd. Do they really need another starter? This feels like them hogging all the good players in a competitive market.
I am not even saying this because I think Byrd would have been a great fit with the Dodgers. Byrd could have picked a bunch of teams. Milwaukee, Chicago (AL), Atlanta, San Francisco, Colorado, Texas all could have used him, and he would have been guaranteed a rotation spot.

Speaking of pitchers that don’t fit, with the addition of Cliff Lee, Pedro Martinez is useless now. If I am the Phillies I try and put him on waivers and let a contender claim him, or sell him (pay his whole salary) for a prospect to a team that liked his rehab starts. If JA Happ is going to be the odd man out when Pedro returns then Pedro doesn’t belong
